Unyielding ideas sung out tenderly.

20 years ago, Panai KUSUI started using her unique, simple voice to sing about the difficulties she had as a young indigenous woman who had moved to the city. Over time, her range of outspoken resistance through music has grown from indigenous identity, indigenous people's rights, the environment, and the land to include issues related to transnational democracy. She has long been persistent in working to bring fairness and justice to every corner of Taiwan. Her name means "spike of rice," and as a mother with Amis and Puyuma blood running through her veins, she emanates a warmth as solid as the land, sparing no effort to protect her children and people's road home with her frank yet refined voice and deeds.

No one is untouchable when it comes to the environment, rights, and gender. During Unplugged with Panai KUSUI, she will demonstrate to us that unyielding strength comes through tenderness.
