Back to the days when love songs were still tender
Combining classic old songs composed by Chinese music legend Lan-Ping Zhou, and directed by famous musical director Chi-Ming Liang.
Those who seek their dream always put in their full effort but often get hurt...
Until one day they realize, the true dream is already hidden in the songs they hummed back in the simpler days.
Jing-Wan Liang, an electronic guitar musician from Taipei, traveles back to her hometown Alishan after a severe break-up. At her hometown, she is fed up with everything she saw. She hated the fact that her people are wearing their traditional tribe clothes and dance with tourists just for pleasing them. She hates the amount of garbage these tourists created. She also hates the bad air quality caused by the tourists’ cars. Everything annoyed her, and once again she wants to escape from her hometown, but then realized she has nowhere else to go.
However, she never knows this heartbroken trip would end up a turning point that brightens her lightless life…
Taipei Symphony Orchestra
Established in 1969, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra(TSO) has been known for its high musical standards, and has invited innumerable renowned musicians to perform and collaborate with them, including sopranos Anna Netrebko and Angela Gheorghiu, violinist Pinchas Zukerman and Maxim Vengerov, cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Mstislav Rostropovich, trombonist Christian Lindberg, conductor Yuri Temirkanov, Nikolay Alexeev and Eliahu Inbal and so on. In 1979, when the first Taipei Music Festival was held, it set the precedent for large-scale music festivals in Taiwan, and the innovative spirit has a profound impact on the development of the domestic music industry.
Apart from performing in Taiwan, the TSO is also no stranger to international concert halls. In recent years, the orchestra has participated in many international music festivals and important events, such as Japan Tour in 2014, France's Les Flaneries Musicales de Reims in 2015, opening ceremony of 2017 Summer Universiade, US Tour in 2017 and China Tour in 2019. In 2018, the TSO has spiritually rebooted Taipei Music Festival with the name “Taipei Renascence”, in order to promote cross-fields innovative collaboration. Through this spirit, the TSO hopes to create another 50 years of epic chapter!
Godot Theatre Company
Founded in 1988, Godot Theatre Company started with The Zoo Story written by the American playwright Edward Albee. Then we produced Marriage Through Lives based on four different Yuanqu classics and brought in modern interpretations to present these Chinese legendary romances. Then Godot produced Little Town of Tanshui, an American play with a Taiwanese twist to it. After that, we produced one play after another, both foreign and local. Godot Theatre has three major goals: (1) introduce international classics to the local audience; (2) interpret Chinese classics with modern perspectives; (3) search for great modern works. We use daily language that the audience is most familiar with to interpret these literatures. Through the words of these literature giants, we capture the light of wisdom in the theater. Godot Theatre Company not only we want to provide people unwavering truth and passion in this time of changes and distress, we also want to become a modern theater group with international perspectives and bring to the audience more touching stories and sentiments.
