Eternal City - Touch Tour
Image Description
Against a black stage background, a silver-white metal seesaw extends diagonally upward from the lower right to the upper left. Six performers are distributed across the structure, disabled and non-disabled dancers. On the left, a performer dressed in black bends close to the edge of the seesaw. Behind her, a dancer faces left in his wheelchair, while a performer in a blue top stands behind him, leaning forward and supporting his shoulder and back with one hand. On the right, another trio of dancers: a performer leans forward in his wheelchair as he is positioned between two standing performers. One dancer crouches in front, as the other dancer lunges forward, supporting and propelling their dance partner through hand and body contact. The image conveys the dynamic interplay between performers, embodiment, and the seesaw, while also expressing collective movement, mutual support, and co-creation.
This touch tour will take place before the performance of Eternal City by Resident Island Dance Theatre, Kinetic Light, and ONIKHO.
Through multisensory guidance and participatory experiences, the tour invites visually impaired audiences, neurodivergent participants, and anyone interested in accessibility and inclusion to explore the dance, stage, and installations through touch, sound, and spatial awareness.
The tour will include a pre-performance audio introduction, an overview of the stage space and set, and opportunities to learn about the physical relationships between the performers' movements and the performance environment through touch. All activities will be conducted with safety, consent, and mutual respect as guiding principles, helping participants develop their own understanding and imagination of the work.
