Reed Unbroken–10th Anniversary Revival
Reed Unbroken is a production that blends traditional Taiwanese opera (Ke-Tse opera) with contemporary musical theatre storytelling. It tells the story of a deep, time-transcending emotional bond between A-Chiang, a young performer in an opera troupe, and a mysterious girl named Chuan-Er. The work explores themes of operatic heritage, love, and commitment.
Gradually losing in the Taiwanese Opera, A-Chiang stumbles upon a long-forgotten script. Meanwhile, Chuan-Er, the mysterious girl appears. Her presence on stage, her graceful singing and movements seem to awaken a forgotten promise and an unfinished tale….
Reed Unbroken is a hauntingly beautiful fusion of traditional Taiwanese Ke-Tse opera and contemporary musical theatre. At its heart is the timeless bond between A-Chiang, a young opera performer struggling to find meaning in a fading art form, and Chuan-Er, a mysterious girl who seems to emerge from the shadows of a forgotten past.
As A-Chiang drifts further from the world of opera, he stumbles upon an old, unfinished script—its pages echoing with memories and secrets long buried. When Chuan-Er steps onto the stage with an otherworldly grace, her voice and movements stir something deep within him—an unspoken promise, a love once made, a tragedy left untold.
Is she real, or merely a reflection of what was lost?
Can forgotten memories heal—or will they haunt us forever?
Reed Unbroken is a lyrical tale of love, loss, and the power of art to transcend time.
