[2025 Weiwuying Organ Festival] CHIEN Wen-pin & Wayne MARSHALL & Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra - Virtuoso Portraits
The second concert of the Weiwuying Organ Festival will feature Weiwuying's Artistic Director CHIEN Wen-pin leading the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with British organist Wayne MARSHALL, performing two masterpieces of 20th-century organ and orchestra works: DUPRÉ's Symphony in G minor and JONGEN's Symphonie Concertante. Both works, composed around 1926 and premiered in 1928, follow the typical four-movement symphonic form. DUPRÉ's piece draws on Classical structures, while JONGEN's work reflects more Baroque elements. Both compositions exhibit French musical colors, while each presents unique musical languages. The organ becomes another ensemble, competing and collaborating with the orchestra, providing double the auditory thrill and enjoyment. Introduction of Hakka by Taiwanese composer LIAO Bang-hau will open the concert.
