Artists Introduction
\n\nCHANG Chung-an|Artistic Director/Choreographer of Resident Island Dance Theatre
\n\nCHANG Chung-an, an award-winning and prolific choreographer, established Resident Island Dance Theatre in 2010. CHANG started to lose sight in his right eye during his dance training in high school. As the condition worsened, he decided not to pursue further education at the university. He returned to his home town Pingtung, south of Taiwan. A place that has limited art resources. However, he believes dancing, movement and choreography are tools which he can express his thoughts through, and therefore continues with self-training, teaching, and choreographing for himself and for others. His work inspiration is mostly associated with mental care and social impact subjects.
\n\n2018 Invited by the British Council to visit Unlimited Festival in London. Disabled Arts are the key to opening another door for Chung-an and the beauty of life is beyond the arts themselves.
\n\n2019 British Council UK-Taiwan culture exchange program grant. Summer choreography lab R&D at Stopgap (UK).
\n\n2020 ICE AGE work in progress was invited by Want to Dance Festival, ISPA pitch new work, and one of the triple bills at the Taiwan Dance Platform.
\n\n2021 ICE AGE production was supported and granted by the Rainbow Initiative, National Culture and Arts Foundation. Community inclusion workshop supported by the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying). Inclusive site-specific performance supported by the Taikang Culture Center.
\n2022 ICE AGE invited by Gathered Together Festival (Glasgow, Scotland). R&D at Dance Base. World premiere at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
