【2022 Weiwuying Circus Platform】Ars Association : Ayla - The First Visit
Ayla - The First Visit is a new production by Ars Association (Taiwan). It's a contemporary outdoor puppetry performance invited by Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), and co-produced by 2022 Taoyuan Iron Rose Festival and 2022 Yunlin International Puppet Theater Festival.
Ayla is a primary school student from the future. She is outgoing and confident, with all kinds of wild ideas in her mind. She also likes to meet new friends and explore the world. Furthermore, she initiates an exploration project about history and culture in the past. That's why she goes back in time to Taiwan in 2022. In this trip, she will visit cities and nature, make local friends, and present what she learns afterwards to her classmates.

Team Introduction
"Ars Association" - is a concept, question and action, response to the exploration and practice of contemporar performing arts context.
Ars Association is a Taichung-based (central Taiwan) art group co-founded by art practitioner Po-Chieh CHEN and design Yu-fen CHEN in 2020. The group focuses on the practices of contemporary performing arts and interdisciplinary arts research on the approach between arts and society; to gather the energy of the local art community, inspires new ideas, and initiate an independent platform for arts.
Concept, Direction & Choreography / CHEN, Po-Chieh
CHEN is a curator, producer, and art maker. She is the co-founder and artistic director of Ars Association. Received her BFA in dance composition from SUNY Purchase College (U.S.A). After her graduation, she was invited to join Elisa Monte Dance (New York) as a professional dancer.
CHEN has extensive experience in performing arts production, arts education, festival, cultural event, and international collaboration. Since 2004, Chen has worked with Cloud Gate 2 (Cloud Gate Culture and Arts Foundation) and one of Taiwan's most important platform organizations – Performing Arts Alliance (PAA) where she established a significant international development initiative – Taiwan Performing Arts Connection during her service at PAA. In 2015, she was invited to join the National Performing Arts Center – National Taichung Theater (NTT) to participate in curatorial development and project operations. In 2019, she was appointed as Associate Manager (Creative Engagement Division) of the Arts Education Department of the NTT until her leave in March 2022.
In 2020, CHEN co-founded “Ars Association” with designer Yu-fen CHEN.

CHEN is co-founder and director of Ars Association. She graduated from the Landscape Architecture Department of Tunghai University, and trained in skills such as environmental analysis, space design, plant design and visual design.
Her professional experience spans the field of landscape, space and exhibition design, brand identity and product design, project and event management and land development management during her works in various industries, including landscape architecture firms, government institutions, listed companies and culture venues.
CHEN is a long-term observer and supporter of classical music and dance. In 2020, she co-founded "Ars Association" with art practitioner Po-chieh CHEN to link the world through design, performing arts, and curation.
