\n\nIs it possible to physically experience the emotion contained a richly expressed musical work? After pianist Anatol UGORSKI left Russia for Germany, his superb skills and completely independent viewpoint made him the person to watch in Europe’s music scene. His dreamlike recordings have become the stu of legend among global music fans. Last year, more than twenty years after his last visit to Asia, UGORSKI came to Taiwan for the first time. His enthralling performances immediately became the talk of the town. During this second visit, which takes place in a year in which the quinquennial International Chopin Piano Competition is being held, Ugorski is bringing with him an amazing program composed entirely of Chopin masterpieces. Each of these extraordinary pieces is a neverbefore-recorded UGORSKI work. Artist Introduction
\n\nPianist|Anatol UGORSKI
\n\nAnatol UGORSKI was born in Leningrad in 1942 and grew up in a poor background: a xylophone and his voice were his only instruments. When he was six years old he took part at the qualifying exam for Leningrad Conservatory, having had no previous musical education. He was accepted, despite never having played a piano before. He left the school in 1960 and continued his studies with Nadeshda Golubovskaya until 1965.
\n\nIn February 2000 Anatol UGORSKI was nominated for the American Grammy for his recording of SCRIABIN’s piano concerts and “Promethée. Le Poème du feu” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pierre BOULEZ.
\n\nToday Anatol UGORSKI lives in Detmold, where he taught as professor for piano at the Music Academy until 2007.
