Weiwuying Digital Aesthetic Education Project
In response to the impact of the pandemic towards “Learning Art Together: Aesthetic Education Program,” National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) has devised the “Digital Aesthetic Education Project,” providing school-age pupils with theater and art education in digital format. Weiwuying aims to persist on our calling amid the harsh challenges brought forth by the pandemic and create a learning environment that has the presentness of a physical classroom, enabling aesthetic experiences and presenting an environment for students to cultivate intellect and develop the temperament and skills for aesthetic appreciation.
Prospective Applicants
All teachers of public, private elementary and middle schools (including junior high schools, senior and vocational high schools, and junior colleges) in Taiwan. Application Page
Teaching Material
The Weiwuying digital curriculum is constructed for elementary and middle school students. The material is designed into two versions, each based on suitable performances, hoping to create a learning environment that has the presentness of a physical classroom, allowing students to experience aesthetics. To make it convenient for teachers to implement the materials into their teaching, this project is structured according to the arts section of the “12-Year Compulsory Education Curriculum.” Videos are produced according to the content and guidelines, while complementary lesson plans and worksheets are designed to assist with the planning of front-end teaching and inaugurate teaching goals.
Elementary School Version
Presented by TLBE Brass, the elementary school version demonstrates theater etiquette, introduces venues, and presents the tone and expressive characteristic of brass instruments through the form of a mini comedy music show, guiding students to enjoy performances in classes that are casual and fun.
Middle school Version
A collaboration with Counterpoint Ensemble, the curriculum combines entrancing storytelling with theater, music, and a simple storyline, introducing music etiquette and guides students to learn about different composers, musical styles, and the various musical schools in music history in a short time frame.
Classic Version
Organist Liu Hsin-Hung and Action Corporation artistic director Chang Han-Hsuan unite to make a video for all school-age pupils, introducing the magnificent architectural characteristics of Weiwuying, the unique vineyard-style concert hall design, and the largest pipe organ in Taiwan, presenting the attributes of Weiwuying, a world-class venue, and the beauty of pipe organ music, enabling students to gain deeper understanding towards theater and aesthetics.
