Theater Art Experiential Education Project Overview
National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (hereafter referred to as Weiwuying) is the only national-level venue in southern Taiwan, with goals including promoting cultural accessibility and encouraging the healthy development of performance arts. In the past, Weiwuying was a training site for new soldiers in the south of Taiwan; today, the venue is transformed into a national center for culture and the arts. However, the change from military training to art does not alter the mission of cultivating the young. With this responsibility in mind, Weiwuying will continue the task of encouraging new blood through the Theater Art Experiential Education Project (hereafter referred to as “the project”), cultivating local art professionals and promoting art education among the young.
Prospective Participants
- Senior high school students: The project for this year is aimed at regular senior high schools and vocational senior high schools (first and second year of senior high school students; a number of spaces are reserved for rural or disadvantaged students). The course will be conducted in class/session as units, with a maximum of two classes (no more than 100 people) in attendance at the same time.
- Lecturers: Teachers and courses are not restricted to art-related subjects and themes. Teachers are encouraged to bring forth innovative, experimental, unique school-based curriculums designed to promote versatility and adaptation skills. Teachers should enliven the courses and provide appropriate and timely leaching materials to achieve the goal of art experiential education.
Promotional Sessions
8 sessions in total for 2019.
Content
The project includes pre-performance “general education courses,” during-performance “theater experience courses,” and post-performance “sharing sessions,” allowing students to construct a method of art appreciation from different approaches and perspectives.
Schedule
Each session is 320 minutes in total and includes three classes.
Application Procedure
Prospective participants should attend the project orientation.
The project is exclusively aimed at schools within the six counties and cities in Southern Taiwan. Applications should be submitted as classes.
