Mei Hong Lin x TANZLIN.Z Die Brautschminkerin Extra Actors Recruitment
Between 2011 and 2017, a group of amateur actors and professional dancers created a sensation in the European world of dance with Die Brautschminkerin, inspiring empathy and reflection among the audience. This year, Die Brautschminkerin will be staged at National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying). The following are the audition information for the performance. Applicants do not need to have previous training in dancing or performance; anyone between the age of 18 and 98 is welcome to join us on stage. Europe-based Taiwanese choreographer Lin Mei-Hong, currently the artistic director of Austrian dance troupe TANZLIN.Z, will be leading the troupe back to Taiwan for this performance.
Inspired by Taiwanese writer Li Ang’s fiction Rouged Sacrifice, Lin applies her expert in integrating dance theater with the musical and literary elements of Taiwan. Die Brautschminkerin is a heart-touching work that portrays the struggles of those who have been silenced in the dark and conveys heartache while honoring the souls that persist in life despite suffering, expressing deep humanistic concerns while searching for universal value. Die Brautschminkerin was awarded the Der Faust prize in 2011, the highest honor in the German art scene, and was selected “Best Work” by the German Theater Art Alliance in 2017.
This dance epic expresses concern for human rights and is a result of the gatherings of aesthetic concerns from all over the world. Having been staged over 50 times in locations across Germany and Austria, Die Brautschminkerin relates to the pain and suffering throughout history. Whether you have experiences in performance or not, you are welcome to manifest your experiences in life and emerge on stage with worldwide artists to soothe souls with compassion and empathy.
