Three Arts Venues under the Family of National Performing Arts Center in Taiwan Broadcast Performing Arts Energy at TPAM-Performing Arts Meeting In Yokohama
The three National Performing Arts Centers (NPAC) --National Theater & Concert Hall (NTCH), National Taichung Theater (NTT), and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) pooled their resources together and formed a strategic ally for TPAM-Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama. Today (12th), nearly 100 international curators and artists attended the international tea party held at Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall. The Taiwan representatives left a great impression on the fellow attendees. Many of them were interested in working with Taiwan artists and arts centers in the future.
The Taiwan NPAC Team included staffs from the marketing department and article planning and production department of the three arts centers, Taiwan visual artist YAN Ning-zhi who took part in TPAM last year as the resident artist of National Taichung Theater, and technology artist WANG Lian-sheng. The team of 11 arts ambassadors was there to introduce Taiwan’s preeminent arts festivals and platforms, announce future co-production plans between the NPACs, talk about the future prospect of the alliance and promote international programs and exchange projects.
Weiwuying proposed three platforms, the Taiwan Dance Platform, the Weiwuying Circus Platform and the TIFA Contemporary Music Platform after its grand opening in October 2018. The aim was to attract international partners, form mutually beneficial collaboration, send Taiwan artists out to the world and link Kaohsiung to the international arts society to give it voice.
Over 800 professionals from 40 countries all congregated at TPAM this year. Amongst which 50 were from Taiwan. Taiwan visual artist YAN Ning-zhi took part in TPAM last year as the resident artist of National Taichung Theater. He was truly impressed by the open atmosphere and the broad spectrum of the meeting. Curators shared forthright their insights and experience on international collaboration with all the participants. It was a great learning experience for people in the arts industry. This year, he will attend the meeting again, hoping to reconnect with friends from last year and learn more about the latest trends and knowledge.
TPAM-Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama is the predominate international performing arts exchange platform. Established in 1995, the meeting strived to evoke new ways of thinking, explore creative possibilities, and construct an Asian cultural and arts network for future interaction and collaboration. The NPACs branched out as a league to build an international network, express the exuberant performing arts energy of Taiwan and attract attention from friends all over the world.
