One Month to the Opening of Taiwan's New National Arts Center
61 more days to go before National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) opens its doors to the public on 13th October! After extended periods of busy preparations, today (13th), Weiwuying announced that the ticket for the opening concert “Glittering Sound ─ The Inauguration Concert” is now available for purchase.
Scheduled at 5 pm Saturday, 13th October, Weiwuying’s opening concert “Glittering Sound ─ The Inauguration Concert” will be the first among a series of events designed for the grand opening, also the first concert staged within the only vineyard concert hall in Taiwan. The concert will be conducted by Chien Wen-pin, the designée for the art director of Weiwuying, who will be leading National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra and Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra in performing a collection of works by renowned Taiwan musicians, such as the overture of Legend of Taiwan-Orchestral Suite of Chivalrous Liao Tian-Ding[YC1] by Ma Shui-Long and My Final Resting Place from opera Mackay─The Black Bearded Bible Man by Gordon Shi-Wen Chin. “Glittering Sound ─ The Inauguration Concert” will commemorate the best and brightest of Taiwan on the grand opening of the world’s largest performance hall under one roof.
Tickets for the “Glittering Sound ─ The Inauguration Concert” will be available on the ticketing system Art Ticket from Wednesday, 15th August. 300 sets of limited edition Taiwan High Speed Rail Package will also be presented, which includes a 20%-off discount for High Speed Rail return tickets and performance tickets, available on the ibon ticketing system. Furthermore, “Glittering Sound ─ The Inauguration Concert” is sponsored by local Kaohsiung company All May Construction Group, a supporter of the development of performance arts in Kaohsiung.
2018 marks the first year of Weiwuying. This year’s opening season spans across ten weeks. Starting on Saturday, 13th October, Weiwuying will be presenting a variety of events including performances, exhibitions, workshops, master classes, and lectures across its difference halls and spaces. Tickets that are available from this Wednesday 15th August not only include the opening concert but also 30 multiple-entry tickets for the Australian 24-hour performance The Second Woman, along with various professional training programs and art workshops.
The opening season includes 81 events and over 115 ticketed and non-ticketed performances, workshops, and participatory events, gathering a total of up to one hundred art groups from Taiwan and abroad in Kaohsiung.
