BACH — A Christmas Miracle will take audiences back to Leipzig in December 1734. As Christmas brings the BACH family together, Johann Sebastian BACH, serving as the Thomaskantor, must finish the Christmas Oratorio within a rapidly approaching deadline. Racing against time, BACH faces mounting pressures: conflicts within his family, the clash between artistic ideals and practical realities. He has to struggle to balance life and work, overcoming tensions with his family members and confronting opposition from the city council, all in order to bring this monumental six-part masterpiece to its first performance.
The film tells the story of the creation of BACH's Christmas Oratorio through the eyes of his ten-year-old son, Gottfried. Musically, the production features performances by the Thomanerchor (St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig), and invites renowned German harpsichordist Elina ALBACH along with her ensemble, Continuum, to provide the music. Through meticulously researched music that evokes the Baroque era, the film offers an intimate glimpse into BACH's daily life, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in the music and story of the Father of Music.
