"A rare virtuosic yet uniquely sensitive interpreter." — WestDeutsche Zeitung
Laureate of the 2015 Queen Elisabeth Competition, William WEI is one of Taiwan's most distinguished violinists. Acclaimed for his natural musicality and emotional sincerity, his performances combine explosive intensity with profound depth.
During the 2025 season, WEI embarks on a U.S. recital tour with pianist Evan WONG and makes his Singapore debut with the Ding Yi Music Chamber Orchestra. He returns to the Berlin Philharmonie for its lunch concert series, and also performs with the Deutsches Neuro-Orchester in Berlin.
In 2024, he released the album Earthing, a collaboration with Dunren Hospital and composer CHANG Shiuan, providing musical comfort for patients with mental illness. Born in Tainan, WEI was awarded the 2018 Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant. He plays the 1722 Stradivari "Joachim-Elman" violin, generously on loan from the Chimei Foundation.
