24 Hours TCHAIKOVSKY - 【Film】TCHAIKOVSKY's Wife
Directed by the reputed Kirill SEREBRENNIKOV, this film begins with TCHAIKOVSKY meeting his future wife, Antonina MILIUKOVA, in 1877. From her perspective, it narrates the tragedy of her love growing madder over time and leading to a marriage that scarred both deeply. The audiences will see a lesser-known, darker part of this great composer's life as well as how women were shackled and homosexuals were horribly treated in 19th-century imperial Russia.
During the Soviet era, everything on record about TCHAIKOVSKY that was considered "dishonorable" and "negative" was locked away by the government, taking away part of his humanity to give him the appearance of having been "flawless." SEREBRENNIKOV made the film to reveal these long-hidden aspects about this great composer who is a national treasure, giving him back his humanity. The film was entered in the Cannes Film Festival's main competition.
