24 Hours TCHAIKOVSKY - 【TCHAIKOVSKY Talk & Show 5】TCHAIKOVSKY’s Unnumbered Symphony, Manfred
Manfred is a closet drama written in 1817 by British poet Lord BYRON. The content revolves around the protagonist Manfred's escape from the tragedy of incest. It is considered to reflect the relationship between the author and his half-sister. TCHAIKOVSKY purposely gave the piece no number to highlight how it differs from his six other symphonies. It is also called the "Symphony in Four Scenes," each scene with a corresponding movement, developed with BERLIOZ's "idée fixe." Though not performed frequently, it is a masterpiece you absolutely must not miss.
