Conductor|Lan SHUI
Lan SHUI is renowned for his abilities as an orchestral builder. As Music Director of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for over twenty years, American Record Review noted that SHUI has "turned good regional orchestra into a world class ensemble that plays its heart out at every concert." As of January 2019, SHUI steps down from his Music Director post to become Conductor Laureate of the Singapore orchestra and at same time takes on a position of Principal Guest Conductor of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.
SHUI also held the position of Chief Conductor of the Copenhagen Philharmonic from 2007 to 2015, and he continues to collaborate with the orchestra as its Honorary Conductor. As a guest conductor, SHUI has worked with many orchestras worldwide which include Orchestra National de France, Deutsches Symphony-Orchester Berlin, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony, Japan Philharmonic and Hong Kong Philharmonic.
Since 1998 SHUI has recorded over 40 CDs which include highly acclaimed BEETHOVEN nine Symphonies with the Copenhagen Philharmonic and complete DEBUSSY orchestral works with the Singapore Symphony. His awards also include the Cultural Medallion - Singapore's highest accolade in the arts.

Over the years, pianist CHEN Shih-wei has established himself as a respected artist of his generation. His debut commercial album on the EMI label earned widespread praise.
A prizewinner in numerous international competitions, CHEN earned the First Prize at the Delia Steinberg International Competition in Spain, the Second Prize at the Mauro Paolo Monopoli International Competition in Italy, the Third Prize at the Premio Franz Liszt International Competition in Italy, and the Second Prize at the Grotrian-Steinweg International Competition in Germany.
As a soloist, CHEN has performed with many professional orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Bari Symphony Orchestra, and Palm Beach Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his active solo career, CHEN is dedicated to teaching the next generation of pianistic talent. He currently serves as a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Tunghai University.
National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra
Founded in 1945, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) is the oldest symphony orchestra in Taiwan. Since its establishment, it has been successively affiliated with the Taiwan Garrison Command, Taiwan Art Construction Association, Taiwan Provincial Department of Education, Department of Culture, Council for Cultural Affairs, and the Executive Yuan. In May of 2012, it came under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. The orchestra is located in Wufeng, Taichung. It is a full-fledged music group with a full complement of software and hardware.
Over 80 years of history, under the directors of the past and efforts, the NTSO has accumulated extensive performing experience. Countless international teams and musicians have been invited to perform with the NTSO.
Since 2019, the internationally renowned conductor maestro Lan SHUI has taken on the position of NTSO Principal Guest Conductor, cooperating with NTSO to enrich artistic skills, innovate on tradition, deepen education, and promote aesthetics, thus enhancing the public's musical life, making music ever-present like air, water and sunshine.
