The experimental theatre company's most popular play ignites 90's nostalgia!
\n\n\n\n
We didn’t lose that era. We lost our courage. ─Asunaro Hakusho, first aired in 1990
\n\n\n\n
Fans of Taiwan's most innovative theatre company will not want to miss this modern classic. SMAP X SMAP is the last installment of director Chia-Ming Wang's pop culture trilogy. Inspired by 90's Taiwan, the play explores the influence of Japanese pop culture, taking its sources from popular Japanese TV drama “Long Vacation”, the manga series Slamdunk, and, of course, the Japanese boy band SMAP. Painting a hopeful but highly unpredictable era in Taiwan, the play takes you on a joyous and light-hearted trip down the memory lane but also illuminate the Taiwanese society in 2018. The free-spirited play includes musical storytelling, live video broadcasting, an improvised set, and comic-style dialogue bubbles. In the true hybrid fashion, the dialogues are in Mandarin, Taiwanese dialect, and Japanese.

Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group
\n\nFounded in the summer of 1995, Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group owes its name to the fictional character in Virginia Woolf's novel A Room of One’s Own, meaning to liberate women's talents from the oppression of patriarchy. Limiting itself to no specific issues or conventional aesthetics, SWSG takes materials from all arts inspiring to create original theatrical works, which have been brought to participate in many theater festivals in Taiwan as well as overseas for years. Besides staging theatrical productions in domestic & international festivals, Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group is planning to make its further step toward making tour performances around the country, developing educational theater activities & engaging itself actively in matters of national cultural politics at stake.

Let loose your imagination and explore the interplay of electronic music and sound art.
\nSit down. Stand up. Or lie on your back. Walk, run, or hop among the dozens of speakers. You get to decide how you want to enjoy electronic music. Cinema for Ears is a concert for all your senses. The two concerts are organized by Tout Pour la Musique Contemporaine, a Paris-based organization that promotes East-West exchange in music, and has toured in Paris, Bordeaux, and Tokyo. The two concerts include works by French electronic music master Christian Eloy, Japanese composer Mikako Mizuno, Chiao-Tung University electronic music professor Yu-Chung Tseng, and Lin-Ni Liao, Taiwanese composer in France as well as winner of 2018 Taiwan-France-Japan Electronic Music Composition Competition. Each event begins with a short talk and is followed by a post-concert discussion.
\n\n
About TPMC(Tout Pour la Musique Contemporaine)
\nSince 2010, TPMC (Tout Pour la Musique Contemporaine) has promoted 52 concerts and presented 181 works, from over 150 composers, with 67 musicians who have performed 35 world premiers and 42 French creations, all in the spirit of cultural exchange. TPMC offers an interdisciplinary and intercultural approach with diverse perspectives on the Far East and the West through the presentation of works complementary to the direction of the ensemble of programmed pieces as a whole (instrumental, acousmatic and mixed music, acoustic and electroacoustic, live electronic music). While the musical characteristics of each musician is so different, musical continuity as an integral element of a comprehensive narrative is manifested by stage lighting and the absence of an intermission or interruption in the chain of pieces, which are classically considered as autonomous entities. This choice leads to a perception of space and time which are generated from and by the music. The staging, lighting and set design introduce an additional dimension beyond that of a simple concert in the presentation of a contemporary music performance which offers as much to see as to hear.

Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan
\n\nCloud Gate is the name of the oldest known dance in China. In 1973, artistic director Lin Hwai-min adopted this classical name for the first contemporary dance company in the greater Chinese-speaking community. Through Lin Hwai-min' s choreographies, the company incorporates trainings from both East and West and transforms ancient aesthetics into a thrilling and modern celebration of motion. For 45 years, Cloud Gate has entertained and inspired generations of audiences in Taiwan and has toured extensively with frequent engagements at important international theatres and festivals. The Times raves Cloud Gate as “Asia's leading contemporary dance theatre," while the New York Times acclaims,“Out of the turbulent history of Taiwan and the artistic accidents of life time, Lin Hwai-min has created a modern-dance style and company that are unmistakably his own.”
\n\n\n\n
LIN HWAI-MIN Founder / Artistic Director
\n\nLin Hwai-min was first known to the Taiwan public as a fiction writer. He started his modern dance training at the age of 23, while working on his MFA degree at the Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. He founded Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan in Taipei in 1973. A self-taught choreographer, Lin often draws from Asian cultures and aesthetics to create works with contemporary resonance. Under his direction, Cloud Gate tours extensively to international acclaims. Among the honors Lin Hwai-min has received are the Samuel H. Scripts / American Dance Festival Award for Lifetime Achievement, the John D. Rockefeller 3rd Award, the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters from the Ministry of Culture of France, and honorary doctorates from six universities in Taiwan and Hong Kong. He was also celebrated by the Time Magazine as one of “Asia’s Heroes.”

\n\n\n\n
Liou-Guei High School's choir was established in 2009, after Typhoon Morakot wrecked havocs in southern Taiwan and took over 600 lives. With a student population mostly from traditionally underserved regions, the choir's success was one of the most heartwarming stories that came out of the tragic event. Specializing in traditional music from the Taiwanese aboriginal tribes and folk songs in the Hokkien and Hakka dialects, the group has won numerous regional and national awards over the years. It also toured Japan in 2015 and in 2017, at the Karuizawa International Choral Festival. 2019 marks the choir's ten-year anniversary, and the young musicians will bring their spirit of hope and renewal to Weiwuying.

\nLeonard Bernstein’s iconic operetta takes the audience on a farcical and sobering journey
In the year of Bernstein’s centennial, Weiwuying honors the maestro with a grand production of his popular operetta. Based on the French philosopher Voltaire’s satirical novella, Candide traces the tumultuous life of the title character. After a forbidden love affair leads to his exile, he embarks on a series of misadventure, encountering violence, evil, and much heartbreak. Originally, the operetta was met with unenthusiastic reaction from the audience but is now one of Bernstein’s most popular works. In today’s tumultuous world, Candide poses urgent questions about human nature and the possibility of hope.

What happens when traditional Chinese orchestra meets a festive Taiwanese temple parade troupe? The National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan (NCO) and the Chio-Tian Folk Drums & Art Troupe, the inspiration for the 2012 blockbuster Din Tao: Leader of the Parade, join forces to put on a spectacle that will subvert your expectations about folk culture and classical Chinese music. Under the direction of Koji Sakurai, music director for the 2017 Summer Universiade Opening Ceremony, the show brings Ba Jia Jiang – traditional street dancers at temple festivals – intricate religious face painting, and acrobatics to the concert hall. NCO will perform contemporary works, including Chen Chung-Shen's “Fairy Play” and Wang Yi-Jing's “Impressions from Beiguan Music,” both inspired by Taiwanese religious culture. This is a first –hand look at Taiwan's vibrant folk culture not to be missed.

\nSit down.
\n\n
Since 2010, TPMC (Tout Pour la Musique Contemporaine) has promoted 52 concerts and presented 181 works, from over 150 composers, with 67 musicians who have performed 35 world premiers and 42 French creations, all in the spirit of cultural exchange.

\n',benefits:"",description:" ",introduction:'Building the Family through Fundraising
\n\nPresenter: Brett Egan, President, DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland
\n
Based on its work in over 80 countries, the DeVos Institute of Arts Management developed the Cycle as a simple, but powerful tool to assist arts managers in their effort to respond to an increasingly complex environment and propel their institutions to excellence. The Cycle explains how great art and strong marketing can create a family of supporters, who in turn help the organization produce the revenue required to support even more great art the next year. When this repeats year after year, all stakeholders—staff, board, and family—sense they are part of a strong, successful enterprise, and they grow more generous and productive.
\n\n\n\n
Institute President, Brett Egan, will introduce the Cycle and explain how effective fundraising pairs each family member with a logical, financial action in support of the organization’s mission. He will outline three key fundraising mechanisms that offer multiple avenues to appeal to different donor types. Annual campaigns offer a “one-size-fits-all” program with tiered benefits. Special events are ticketed events designed to raise funds and increase the organization’s visibility. Targeted campaigns promote deeper donor engagement with an organization’s mission and people by raising funds for a specific initiative that is connected to an organization’s strongest programming.

(New Media and Dance Boards)、露西・蓋倫公司(Lucy Guerin Inc)、即時藝術誌(Real Time)、斯納夫偶劇團(Snuff Puppets)和英國整體劇場(Total Theatre, UK)。
\n\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t

An architectural design is user experience design on a spatial level, and thestructure is the interface that users can interact with (David Lau, 2015). The presentation of the performance as an interface creates a unique experience for audience. From space to sprit, it creates a total experience for the people. This year's Weiwuying International Symposium themes at "User Interface" and "User Experience". Leaders in different disciplines around dthe world will share their experience and inspire each other to imagine new possibilities.

\n\n\n\t\t\t Taco Liu is one of the initial founders of Stupid Particle. He is mainly in charge of project management and finance. Most of his time is spent on the designing and constructing of puzzles and tasks simply because he has always been infatuated with technical execution. As a matter of fact, the desire to make a dream come true was so compelling it almost always prompts him to build the sets on him own. \n\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t
What is Stupid Particle?
\n\nIt is a real-life escape game. There are high-tech devices, thrills, haunted places, adventures back in time and competitions. Players must have all hands on deck and ready to exhaust their brain power to escape the room and complete the mission.
\n\n\n\n
Why is it called Stupid Particle?
\n\nBeing stupid is being bold and tenacious, willing to take on the impossible and never give up. Many great inventors in history were also ridiculed before they find success. The name is not meant as an insult, rather as a compliment.
\n\n\n\n
Why is Stupid Particle founded?
\n\nFive years ago, Taco accidentally stumbled into room escape and failed miserably. He sat through the night reflecting upon the mistakes he had made and refused to accept that he was beaten. Taco believed he could design something that would make people go berserk. One thing led to another and Stupid Particle was born.
\n\n\n\n
I would love to sign up for an adventure at Stupid Particle. Where can I find one?
\n\nPresently there are 5 venues across Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taichung, hosting over 12 different themes. Room escape activities can also serve as team training sessions for enterprises. The entire Stupid Particle set and experience is also turned into games sold overseas. Hopefully more people will able to partake in this fascinating cerebral and physical workout and make their way to salvation!
\n\n\n\n
Have you done something different on the side?
\n\nThe Play Story series from Stupid Particle offers Lilies. Players get to watch a performance and play a game at the same time. They will interact with over 15 professional performers to play out a storyline based on true stories. As the story gradually unfolds, players will have to do their best to see it through. What a great opportunity to seize your own future in hand. This is yet another brand-new experience aside from convetional room escape games!
\n\n\n\t\t\t At first Tiger Chi was only using room escape to beat work anxiety. He simply wished to introduce some rarely seen high-tech toys to people with a technology-based room escape. Before he realizes, he began to add personal experience and philosophy into the design of room escape. The game became a sort of personal confession space to him. He is addicted to the scream and laughter of players making their way to salvation. \n\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t
In 2015, Tiger Chi became so engrossed in work he hardly had any time for family. He sealed the regret into the design of Vicky Space Escape and incorporated software engineering into room escape, experimenting with various unprecedented approaches and concepts. In 2017, he designed Lavor Locke Hotel: Killers Dilemma, which was inspired by the trolley problem. At the same time, he initiated the development of an Escape Game IDE. The system was also used in The Tag-Along Nightmare Dejavu, handing over the design of the game back to game designers instead of leaving it to software engineers. This in turn offers more room for imagination to run free.
\n
\nThe need to create an escape room is an addiction one can never shake. It may seem like some kind of a game at first, but it ended up being a lot of work.
\n
\nWisdomHunter was founded in 2013. It is one of the oldest room escape providers in Taiwan. Tiger Chi aims to tell the stories in his head, be it happy, heart rendering, thrilling, exciting or painful. All the emotional moments will be presented with movie like special effects. He keeps pushing his limits and looks forward to explore more possibilities with each challenge. The aim is to make sure that every player leaves the room with a smile after finally solving all the puzzles and living in invigorating excitement. He also wishes the WisdomHunter storyteller assigned to each session will make an everlasting impression on those brave enough to take up the challenge.
\n
\nThe Enter Space Room Escape Cinema was founded in 2016. Just like normal cinemas, a professional service team awaits to offer their service to renown room escape providers. This is a great example of division of labor. At the moment there are in total 10 room escape games packed in the same area, forming the largest room escape venue in Taiwan.
\n\t\t\t Eason Huang set out as an apprentice at a patisserie after he graduated from university and worked towards owning his own storefront. One day, he stumbled upon something called Room Escape and was hooked ever since. He started Wan Xiao Lab without much hesitation. The lab is now five years old and his role in the lab has gradually shifted from theme selection and challenge design to venue management and marketing. \n\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t
The inspiration of his good work comes from daily life experiences. Eason incorporated exhibitions, architectures, fine arts, movies, video games, board games, technology and music into room design. He excels in turning something old into something new, exciting and fabulous. As a perfectionist, he produces extremely complex and exquisite puzzles and quests which are much more than mere entertainment. These break out activities are thought provoking, challenging and truly mesmerizing. Eason takes pride in allowing players to immerse in a series of entertaining tasks without feeling forced.

Wan Xiao Lab was established in November 2013 in a small ally in XinYi district. The first escape attempt was a 2.5 hour challenge crisscrossing multiple spaces called Roundabout, the longest ever in Taiwan. In 2015, the shop was expanded to Neihu District where more rare themes were offered: Eye of Horus—the escape from an archaeological excavation trip in Egypt filled with treacherous physical tasks; Open—escape while there is still enough oxygen in the spaceship all on your own; And Zha Dou Fu (Bomb/ Fight/ Mind Games)—a jungle based Guerrilla warfare that brings new surprises with ever visit. The well decorated rooms transport players to spaces in another place and time. Get ready for a variety of fun activities!
\n\n\n\n
Wan Xiao Lab will knock your socks off with riveting fun and crazy laughter! The mission statement of the lab goes, “Aim to exude joyful and creative exuberance and leave people utterly dumbfounded!”

Wiener Philharmoniker

Vienna Philharmonic NEW YEAR'S Concert
\n\nVienna New Year's Concert is an annual event occurring at 11am, January 1st, in Musikverein, Vienna. As a tradition for Vienna Philharmonic, the concert programs usually include pieces from the Strauss family, and become the most sought-after performances in the world. Because of the limited availability of seats, the tickets are always sold-out soon after releasing. Vienna Philharmonic thus arranges live screenings around the world, including TV broadcasts of more than 90 countries. Due to the local time difference with Vienna (7 hours earlier) and the mild winter climate, these unique conditions have made southern Taiwan a rare place to host outdoor broadcast, and this is the 11th consecutive year for Weiwuying to hold the live screening.

◆Live concert|ChuNoodle
\n\n16:00-17:00 Live concert
\n\nChuNoodle is named after the breeze of the old and new at the turn of the year, as well as the spring rain that nurtures the earth.
\n\nThe ensemble is inspired by classical music(clarinet and bass clarinet), with an undertone of local dialects(Hakka and Heluo), in combination of the contemporary pop music(guitar and Chinese pop vocals).
\n
Their works are like the spring rain, both vintage and innovative, and just like the Yangchun noodles, they deliver an impression of rustic friendliness.
